Greetings from our Personal Representative of the SGIG
Illustrious Brother V. Stuart Cook, 33°, IGH
Welcome to our site. The Valley of Richmond strives to always maintain and support the honorable goals of Scottish Rite Masonry. Our Valley consists of Masons from all walks of life. If you are a sojourning Scottish Rite Mason, we want you to feel welcome within our fellowship.
In Craft Masonry it is considered inappropriate to ask someone to join our Fraternity; however, this is not the case with Scottish Rite Masonry. If you are a Master Mason and a member in good standing in your Blue Lodge, please consider joining us. Petitions can be obtained through the office, on our website, or from one of our members.
Brethren I am honored to have been selected by our Lt. Grand Commander and SGIG for our Orient to be his Personal Representative for our Richmond Valley!! I wish each of you to know that I did not seek this position, and sincerely hope that the appointment, and acceptance did not offend any of our Brethren. With this being said and through discussions with our SGIG, I fully realize that this is not just an Honor, it comes with a great deal of responsibility, and ultimately a great deal of work. Illustrious and Most Worshipful Brother Jim Cole has delineated a plan of action that he desires us to work towards implementing. There is no one set of blue prints, nor one set of priorities to follow, and he will be looking to the Richmond Valley to set the example. As we move forward we will need to work together, put a plan in play that will re-organize our Valley, and place more responsibility and authority on Heads of Our Scottish Rite Bodies and Committee Chairs. This will ultimately grow our participation and membership.
My philosophy has always been to encourage those around us to get more involved, give them ownership, tap into and develop the many talents of our members. Just look around our Valley my Brothers, you will see so many with so much to offer, and yet we have just brushed the surface of what has never fully tapped into this resource. Please be prepared to assist when called upon in the next few months. Please offer up the names of those Brothers who you believe would make good Committee Chairs to our in-coming Venerable Master, as well as to discuss potential members for our various committees to the Committee Chairs themselves.
In closing, let us all remember that there is NOT a ME , I , or MY in building a Team. There is only US, WE or OURS. Please, share yourselves just a little bit more with your Valley, that we can and will all grow, and build together! Let us all work together to continue to build upon the outstanding reputation that the Richmond Valley has within the Orient of Virginia.

Brother Stuart
